According to Jeunes Marins (Septembre-October 1960), SOFLUMAR was originally involved in wine transportation, in partnership with Compagnie Française d'Armement Maritime; it operated two vessels in 1939, five in 1957 and nine in 1960.
In the 1990s, the company became SOFLUMAR Van Ommeren France, then Van Ommeren Tankers, eventually absorbed by the Broström group and renamed Broström Tankers.
