Municipal flag of Solčava, horizontal and vertical versions - Images by Željko Heimer, 28 January 2002
See also:
The municipality of Solčava was formed in 1998 with parts of the municipality of Luče, which had seceded from Mozirje in 1995.
Željko Heimer, 28 January 2002
The flag and arms of Solčava are prescribed by Decision Odlok o grbu in zastavi občine Solčava (text), adopted on 17 March 2000 and published in the official local gazette Uradno glasilo Zgornjesavinjskih občin, 2/2000.
The symbols were designed by Valt Jurečič of Heraldika d.o.o. and Heraldica Slovenica, who kindly provided drawings from which the images shown on this page were made.
The flag is rectangular, in proportions 2:5, green with a thin white stripe dividing it in two parts, the field at hoist being square and containing the attribute from the coat of arms, three edelweiss flowers proper.
Stanič & Jakopič [j2s05] give the colour specifications as:
- Light yellow: Pantone 109;
- Dark yellow: Pantone 1225;
- Green: Pantone 355;
- Blue: Pantone 300;
- Red: Pantone 185;
- Black: Pantone Black.
The drawings of the flag provided by the designer,
who surely provided the colour definitions to the municipality and who
also provided his images to Stanič, include an other lighter shade of green for the parts of the edelweiss flower. This is not mentioned in
the colour definition (not to mention that the flag definition
forgets about black used for outlining the flowers).

Coat of arms of Solčava- Image by Željko Heimer, 28 January 2002
The coat of arms of Solčava is "Azure on a mount vert issuant from a stony basement a church
argent roofed gules and in base three edelweisses proper two and
one".
According to Stanič & Jakopič [j2s05], the church shown on the coat of arms is the
Church of St. Mary of the Snows (Slovene: Marija Snežna), the only
preserved fully Gothic church in the Upper Savinja valley, built
between 1461 and 1485.
