Klaus-Michael Schneider,

Hausen upon Verena Municipal Coat of Arms

Shield Or, in base a crest coronet Gules, at dexter issuant from coronet a sinister facing carp haurient Azure, biting an attire Sable in pale at sinister.
Meaning:
The village belonged to thew Lordship of Hohenkarpfen, from the 11th until the 13th century ruled by the Lords of Karpfen (engl.: carp). The lordship was acquired by the Counts of Württemberg in 1444. A testament from 177o is sealed by seal displaying a fess charged with an attire and a sinister facing carp beneath the fess. The fish is a canting element from the arms of the Lords of Karpfen. The attire is either taken from their crest or is representing Württemberg. The current form of the municipal arms displays more or less the crest of the helmet in the Karpfen family arms. Hausen was first mentioned in 1092. In 1275 it was called Husen apud Kalphen, alluding to the nearby Hohenkarpfen Mountain. There is no explanation for the addition of Sta. Verena to the name of the municipality.
