Description of coat of arms:
In a blue shield with a golden(=yellow) bordure is a golden(=yellow) anchor. According to www.kommunalflaggen.de the coat of arms hasn't changed after 1972. See e.g. Stadler 1972, p.56
Meaning:
According to source the municipality gained the rights of a city in 1721. The anchor can be seen on seals from 18th century. The yellow bordure was added in 1942 and approved by Oberpräsident of Prussian province of Westphalia. The pattern was coat of arms of the barons of Ibbenbüren and the counts of Lingen as well.
