Approved is a black-white vertical bicolour (see left image above), partially in use is a red-white vertical bicolour (see right image above). The coat of arms of both is shifted to the top.

Shield parted per fess, above quartered of Argent and Sable, beneath Gules with base Vert, a lamb passant Argent at sinister and a deciduous tree Vert at dexter.
Meaning:
The upper half displays the family arms of the Zollern kin, who acquired the town as Burgraves of Nürnberg in 1283. The lamb is symbolising the right of sheep rearing, granted in 1441 by Margrave Johann of Brandenburg. The tree is a decorating detail, which was added in paintings and seals since the 19th century. The tinctures of the lower half varied. The background tincture of the lower half was displayed golden by Otto Hupp (1925) and Klemens Stadler (1965). The tree sometimes is white.

The arms are in use since the 16th century. They had been forbidden between 1818 and 1836.
