Shield parted per pale; at dexter Vert, St. Nicholas standing in robe Argent with mitre Gules, holding a crozier in his right hand and a book Gules, topped by three golden balls ordered 1:2, in his left hand; at sinister Argent an impending triplemount Sable.
Meaning:
The city was established in 1290 by Wilhelm of Schwarzenberg and probably had proper seals since then. The 1st print from 1315 displayed a tower and a man rising his hands, in order to receive a gift from St. Nicholas, the local patron saint, over all the doubled triplemount of the Lords of Schwarzenberg. The balls, also called golden apples, are an attribute of the saint. The triplemount is a modification (German: Minderung of the Schwarzenberg family arms.This pattern was confirmed in 1895.

Banner, flag and arms were approved on 19 September 1968 by Minister of Interior of Baden-Württemberg, published in GABl 135/1969. The same symbols were approved again on 5 April 1982 by the county administration, published in GABl 558/1983.
