From Ralf Hartemink's International Civic Arms website:
The new arms were granted on July 1st, 1977, and shows in the dexter part the Imperial crown [and orb], derived from the arms of the former Staffelstein county. In the old arms the whole image of Emperor Heinrich II was shown. The sinister part shows the lion of Bamberg, taken from the old arms.Literature: Stadler and Egloffstein 1990.
