The flag of La Guajira was adopted by Bill Number 28, of
November 29, 1966 by the Department Assembly (the Legislative
body) and modified by Bill Number 52 of 1994.
The Coat of Arms of the Department of La Guajira has changed for
a new one that can be seen at the official website of the
Government of La Guajira at <www.laguajira.gov.co>.
It was adopted as the result of a contest won by a pseudonym
called "Angel Cuervo", adopted through Bill No. 28 of
November 29, 1966, by the Assembly of the Department of La
Guajira, and modified twice by Bill Number 52 of 1994 and Bill
009 of March 10, 1998.
