"Highlands is an incorporated town in Macon and Jackson counties in the U.S. state of North Carolina. Located on a plateau in the southern Appalachian mountains, within the Nantahala National Forest, it lies mostly in southeastern Macon and slightly in southwestern Jackson counties, in the Highlands and Cashiers (pronounced "cashers") townships, respectively. After a contest for a flag and emblem, three top designs were put on town's website for voting: www.highlandsnc.org/contest/voting.html. According to the results of voting, the winner is design #2. The minutes of the Town Board for April are not yet on the website, so for now I can't find an official document for the new flag.
