Sadıkoğlu Group was established by a noted shipowners' family from Rize.
The group is presided by Kahraman Sadıkoğlu, who was kidnapped in Iraq by terrorists in December 2005 and released two months later following the payment of a ransom.
Kahraman Sadıkoğlu invested 50 million USD to restore the Savarona, the luxury yachts purchased in 1938 to serve as a presidential yacht but never used. The restored yacht was leased to cruise companies, as revealed by media in 2010, eventually resulting in the takenover of the ship by the Turkish government.
Kahraman's brother, Celal Sadıkoğlu, owns the Levent Yatçılık company, specialized in yacht brokerage, which was accused in 2011 to have perceived an unfair benefit during a transaction.
