"Arbetsmiljöverket, AV (English: Work Environment) is a Swedish
administrative authority under the Ministry of Employment (official website:
https://www.regeringen.se/sveriges-regering/arbetsmarknadsdepartementet/),
responsible for issues relating to the working environment and work injury.
It takes its current form in 2001, when the "Arbetsmarknadsstyrelsen, AMS"
(English: Occupational Safety and Health) and the "Yrkesinspektionen"
(English: Occupational Safety Inspectorate) were merged into one, the "Arbetsmiljöverket,
AV" (English: Work
Environment).
It traces back its origins to the
establishment of the "Yrkesinspektionen" (English: Occupational Safety
Inspectorate) back in 1890. Also, aside from this, the "Arbetsmarknadsstyrelsen,
AMS" (English: Occupational Safety and Health) (1948-2007) and the "Arbetarskyddsstyrelsen,
ASS" (English: Occupational Safety and Health) were established as parallel
but complimentary.
On January 1, 2008 the "Arbetsmarknadsstyrelsen,
AMS" (English: Occupational Safety and Health), "Arbetsmarknadsverkets"
(English: Labor Market) and the several existing "länsarbetsnämndernas"
(English: County Labor Board) were taken over by the "Arbetsförmedlingen"
(English: Employment Service) (official website:
