It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a blue and yellow quartered field.

Vert a bar wavy Argent charged with two barrulets wavy Azure and on a pall over all Argent a fleur-de-lis Azure, in chief a cork oak twig Or. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading "MONTARGIL" in black upper case letters.
Meaning:
The arms refer to the local cork oak woods and probably the local road and river dam topography; no idea about the fleur-de-lis.

Montargil Commune is one of the five communes of Ponte de Sor Municipality (q.v.); it had 2781 inhabitants in 2001 and covers 296,76 km².
