It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain red field (village rank).

The arms are Or a branch of strawberry tree Vert fruited Gules and a branch of Cork Oak Vert acorned Argent their thick ends per saltire and in chief a sheaf of wheat Or tied Azure and in base a millstone Gules. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "PEREIRAS - GARE".
Meaning:
The arms are not canting, as "pereiras" (pl. of "pereira") means "pear tree", and "gare" means "railway station".

Pereiras Gare Commune is one of the 17 communes of Odemira Municipality (q.v.); it had 373 inhabitants in 2001 and covers 64,68 km².
