    It is a typical Portuguese municipal flag with the coat of arms centred on a field quartered of yellow and green.

    Shield Sable, on a fess Argent two cork oaks eradicated Sable leafed Vert fructed Or and peeled Gules, in chief a 2-level tower Argent with port and windows Gules (not mentioned in blazon), between two bundles of wheat Or each of three ears, sometimes tied Gules, in base on a wavy fess Azure fimbriated Argent, three fish of the same naiant dexter. Mural crown argent with four visible towers (town rank), and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "VILA DE ODEMIRA" (see left image above) or simply "ODEMIRA" (see right image above).
    Meaning:
    The arms are partly canting as they show a river and the syllable "Ode" in this toponym (as in many others in Portugal) comes from arabic "wad", "river" (in Spain it originated current "Guad" forms): Mira river crosses the town and actually drains most of the municipal territory.

    Presentation of Odemira

    Odemira Municipality had 29 538 inhabitants in 2021, and it is divided in 17 communes, covering 1721 km2. It belongs to the BejaDistrict and to the old province of Baixo Alentejo.Trivia: Odemira is the largest municipality in Portugal.
