It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a field quartered of blue and yellow.

The arms are Azure on its leaves Or a bunch of grapes Purpure and on a bordure Or nine wedges Azure. Mural crown argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "OLHALVO".
Meaning:
The wedges stand for 16th century local benefactor nobleman and Elvas Bishop Manuel da Cunha's arms (canting for "_cunha_" = "wedge"), whose family arms were originally Or nine wedges Azure, later augmented with a bordure bearing "quinas", see therefore
this webpage. (The Cunha family crypt is located in this commune, and it harbours i.a. the grave of Tristão de Cunha, discoverer of the island of the same name.) The grapes stand for local vineyards.

Olhalvo Commune is one of the 11 communes of Alenquer Municipality (q.v.); it had 1907 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 8.3 km².
