A large village with the high school, primary school, kindergarten and
public library. After declaration of martial law by Gen.Jaruzelski in 1981,
a camp for "Solidarity" activists was set up here. Among others, Bronisław
Geremek, later foreign minister, was kept in it.
Soccer (footbal) team: MLKS "Kolejarz" Wierzchowo
Arms and flag adopted in March 2003.
"Arms: on the gold shield and on the green triple hill a red church
tower and next to it, green linden tree with the trunk in natural color.
Flag: Rectangle composed of three horizontal bands: yellow-red-green.
Bands: yellow and green are of equal width.
On the wider middle band of red color, the Arms of the commune are
placed."
