Number of inhabitants (1 Jan 2003): 24.002; area: 14,32 km². Settlements: Diemen (seat).
New flag adopted 6 Feb 2009; description: three equal horizontal stripes of blue and white; on white three swimming black ducks.
Explanation: according to Ralf Hartemink the arms, and therefore the flag, belong to the Zeeuwse family Poes.
