Oudega (Frisian: Âldegea) is a village in Smallingerland municipality in Fryslân province - not to be confused with Âldegea (Gaasterlân-Sleat) or Oudega (Wymbritseradiel)
Flag adopted 1982; design: Piet Bultsma.
Flagdescription: quartered at 1/3 flaglength, clockwise yellow, red. yellow, red, with in the canton a green diagonally placed oakleaf.
Arms: per fess i) or an oaktree on meadowbase, all vert; ii) argent a deer's head caboshed gules.

Oudega was until 1798 the seat of the Grietenij (municipality) of Smallingerland, where the "grietmannen" (mayors) of the Van Haarsma family lived from the 16th century till 1820. They were mayors uninterrupted from 1625 till 1795. The oak is derived from the Van Haarsma arms, in the flag represented by a leaf. The deer's head refers to the municipal arms.

Nickname: "Bakbrochje-iters, Bakbrochjes" - biscuits with a slice of rye-bread, and in between rasped cheese or brown sugar. This was poor laborers' food (but it is delicious, jb) - the local newspaper is still named "De Bakbrogge".
