About Tigres UANL

"Club Tigres UANL Sinergia Deportivia S. A. de C. V.", simply known as Tigres UANL or Tigres is a Mexican professional football club based in San Nicolás de los Garza, a city in the Monterrey metropolitan area, part of the State of Nuevo León. The club has its origins in the Club Deportivo Nuevo León [Nuevo Leon Sport Club], founded in 1957, nicknamed "Jabatos". The base of that pioneering team was made up of members of the now-defunct Deportivo Anáhuac, a team that had recently qualified in the so-called Northern League. On 7 March 1960 "Jabatos" ceased to exist after multiple economic problems that caused the club to be transferred to the "Patronato de la Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León" [Board of Trustees of the Autonomous University of Nuevo Leó] where it was initially run by Ernesto Romero and Luis Lauro. It was renamed Club Deportivo Universitario de Nuevo León [University Sports Club of Nuevo Leon], in addition to adopting the nickname "Tigres" [Tigers] and playing in the blue and yellow uniform.

The flag is a horizontal yellow flag featuring the current logo in the middle, which was unveiled on January 31, 2012. A proposal for a new version was in the making since 2010 but for contract reasons it could not be changed until two years later. The previous logo (Tigres.com) was in use since 2001 and was based on the "T" logo of the Argentinian football club "Club Atlético Tigre"

Notice that this flag featured the logo without the stars, used only (so far) for the 2020 FIFA Club World Cup tournament (which was played in 2021) gettyimages, link provided by Zach Harden on January 25, 2022.
