The coat of arms of Hidalgo was adopted in March 1997, being designed by L.D.G. Ramiro Yado García Qpd. The idea came through a proposal the Municipal Presidency made through the Secretary of Tourism of the locality. The border is like a scroll, having at the top HIDALGO TAM; at the bottom 14 DE MAYO DE 1752, the date of its foundation. The inner area is divided into three sections. The upper-left section depicts the Santo Domingo de Guzmán church. The upper-right section depicts the Cross of the Hill, found in the El Chorro community. A crown, waterfall, building, rocks, and field are also seen. The lower section depicts (left) a cow, pig, and goat; (right) cob of corn, orange, and pepper. The background scene is the sun rising over the fields, with a man in a tractor in the center. In the center is an inescutcheon, bordered in white and over red, the Maltese Cross for the exercise of moral values.
