I was informed the municipality does not have a coat of arms, but this is untrue; perhaps the municipality does not use its own coat of arms. To the side of an oval are branches, having the sameness to the coat of arms of the State. Above the oval is a form of a church in three sections, at the top the Aguanaval River with the background of mountains, to the left a cattle for cattle-raising, to the right a cob of corn for agriculture; this figure is topped by a cross for faith. In the oval, over an agricultural field, is the figure of Simón Bolívar, revolutionary who the municipality is named after. Over him is a ribbon reading, to the left, 1858; to the right, 1917 as the Constitutions, and in the middle "GRAL. SIMÓN BOLÍVAR 1936"; 1936 being the year it changed its name from San Bartolo to its current one.
