The coat of arms was apparently adopted in 2008, being designed by Blas Hernández Galván for the creation of his monograph on the Municipality. Above the shield is a ribbon reading its name; below a ribbon reading "MINERIA" [mining] connected to a pick and hammer. As the centerpiece is the local Temple of Our Lady of Guadalupe, to the front of the Aguanaval River (also marked with its name). To its sides, agave plants grow. Above is a desert, reading "SEMI DESIERTO" to reflect this.
