I was informed that the coat of arms was adopted during the term of Héctor Núñez Valdez (2004-2007), being designed by José Guadalupe Chávez Guevara and Father Polo. It was adopted through a call for submissions from the municipality, having 12 participants. To the sides of the shield are branches with cattails, tied together by a ribbon in the national colors, remembering its state. Below the shield is a ribbon reading "San Pedro del Gallo Dgo." Behind the shield are a crossed arrow and sword, symbolizing conflicts between the Indians and Spaniards. The papal tiara and keys crown the shield, remembering faith in God. The shield itself is divided into two halves; to the left, a scroll reading 1760 (maybe when it became a municipality), a feather in ink, a minecart for mining, a helmet for the Spanish era; and to the right, an unknown device (?), Indian woman, a map of the municipality, and two corn plants for agriculture. At the bottom is a chicken by the lake with a boat over it, remembering the importance of water here. At the top is the year 1598. Between the two halves is a crossed pick and shovel, remembering the mining industry.
