The coat of arms of Canatlán was designed by Roque García. Above the shield is a crown for royalty, below a ribbon reading MUNICIPIO DE CANATLAN; at the top of the shield
is ornamentation. To the upper-left, the hills and valley with wheat to the left, symbolizing agriculture. To the front are ducks in the La Sauceda River, remembering the origin of its name
(Place of land joined to the water). To the upper-left, the church of San Diego de Alcalá. To the lower left, a train over train tracks and a scroll reading Felipe Pescador, a railroading
figure born here. To the lower-right, a row of apple trees and boxes, signifying Canatlán's fruit production potential. In the center of the shield, the contour of the municipality.
