The council informed me they could not find information on the history of their municipal coat of arms. It has a wavy border, having a ribbon at the bottom that reads "Chiapa de Corzo". At the bottom of its border is "Mexico". The inner area of the shield. The right side depicts a Parachico masked dancer with a chinchin (rattle), indicating the most important dance in the area in January. Behind him is a bell named "Santa Teresita" created in 1576, from the Santo Domingo Church. At the bottom, the Grijalva River is depicted with a cannon named "El Sapo" over it, used in the Battle of Chiapa de Corzo of 1863. To the left side, a Ceiba tree is seen by the river; also seen is the La Pila fountain of Mudéjar architecture, found in the principal plaza. Above this, the image of Ángel Albino Corzo, governor in the 1850's with the title of "Benemérito del Estado de Chiapas" and was born here. Behind him is a cloud.

A possible previous coat of arms is found online. However, it appears more likely it was a council logo in reality considering its design and motto. It is in red and white, depicting at the top flowers emerging from the "Santa Teresita" bell of the Santo Domingo church. At the bottom is a ribbon which reads "CRECER". To the sides of the shield, "JUNTOS PARA" and "CON RUMBO" are found, completing a phrase [TOGETHER TO GROW WITH DIRECTION]. At the bottom is a Ceiba tree, symbol of its geography; it combines with the Grijalva River. In the inner setction, the La Pila fountain is seen to the right bank of the river; the Municipal Building is seen to the left.
