The convention center in Ciudad del Carmen flies a flag for each municipality, white with the coat of arms and name in black, including Champotón.

The coat of arms was designed in 1975, being designed by Francisco Arredondo and Manuel de la Cruz Martínez who proposed it to the council. Common description, as translated:
The coat of arms is divided into three parts. The first, in the upper left part, shows the precious wood of the region. The second division, to the right, shows the symbolic figure of the forwardness of the virile Moch-Couoh, Maya chieftain who in 1517 expelled the Spaniards under the mandate of Francisco Hernández de Cordova. The third lower part of the coat of arms shows the peaceful Champotón River, which comes from the mountains and brings in its currents a fish, symbol of other economic activities of the municipality. In the upper central part of the coat of arms a species of Maya penacho (hat of feathers), in allusion to the chieftain Moch-Couoh. The coat of arms relaxes over indigenous hands; in the upper-left part the points of lances are shown, and in the right part a quiver with arrows. In the lower-left part, rice is observed and in the right part a head [of corn], symbols of agriculture of our region. Below the rice, a broken pistol is shown and a dented Spanish helm, below the head [of corn] is a broken crossbow, which makes allusion to the defeat suffered by the Spaniards and the imposition of the indigenous battle. The periphery of the coat of arms shows in the lower part a legend, "Bahía de la Mala Pelea" [Bay of the Bad Battle], name which the Spaniards granted to the region in their desperate flight in 1517. In the upper part the legend "Honra de América" [Honor of America] is shown, title granted to the City of Champotón. The banner which is found below the coat of arms shows the name of the municipality, the year 1517 and the name of the state.
