Ukmerge (Ukmerge District) - on a blue field in a silver
lozenge on a blue terrace a golden ruined, but under restoration,
house with a red roof, over a red heart and upon an opened silver
book, on the right page a red rose with green leaves, on the left
page a red calf. Flag proportions 10:11, fringe is silver, finial
is a silver lance head with knob and silver bands. The charge of
arms granted in 1792 was designed by citizens. The ruined house
under restoration symbolizes the city reviving from destruction.
The opened book symbolizes city rights, and the heart symbolizes
joy for those rights. The rose comes from the arms of Juozapas
Kucevskis, the then vogt (bailiff) of city. The calf comes from
the family arms of grantor King Stanislaus Augustus Poniatowski.
The heart, rose and calf together also symbolize the motto, which
was written on arms in 1792 but abolished in modern times:
"Eternal gratitude to Friend, to King".
