On April 14th 1959 the High Commissioner Color of the Ryukyu Islands was
adopted. The flag is blue field charged with yellow American eagle holding arrow
and olive and the commissioner's name in a light blue disc with yellow
fringe. The flag was abolished on May 15th 1972 when Okinawa was returned to
Japan.
