The flag of the city of Yamagata is white with mark.

The city emblem was adopted on Jan 28th 2004 by Notice No 5 but there is no
flag law. The white flag has a blue and a green two color city emblem in the
center. The city emblem is a stylized kanji 山 Yama of Yamagata. The blue color
stands for a clear sky, a harmony and a development, the green color for an
abundant nature, a vigor and a creation. As a whole, it represents an image of
the citizen who is flying for the future of 21st century like a bird.
