Stylized kanji Numa and Ta 沼田 which stands for development and
harmony.

Flag adopted 1992 Notice No 1. The flag use the emblem adopted on 1 April
1965 (notice no 6 (in Japanese)).
The logo is made up of a stylised kanji numa 沼 (swamp/pond)
forming a circle. This circle, together with a cross in the middle, forms
the kanji ta 田 (rice paddy). The emblem symbolises harmonious human
nature/kindness and the (balanced?) development/growth of the city.

The flag of the city of Numata is already reported, but I found two variants
of purple flag.

The flag of the former village of Shirasawa was purple with mark. The village
is now, from 2005, part of the city of Numata.

The design combines four katakana characters “Ro” ロ with the kanji character 沢for “sawa.”
