"GONFALONE. Drappo di colore bianco, ornato di ricami
d'argento e caricato dello stemma civico con l'iscrizione
centrata in argento: «Città di Barga» (Decreto del Capo del
Governo in data 26 febbraio 1932).
Lo stemma risale al XVI secolo ed è riportato su importanti
documenti di compravendita riguardanti la comunità. Nel secolo
successivo, la figura del pino fu sostituita con il giglio di
Firenze, mentre rimase inalterata la barca fluttuante su un mare
azzurro. Il pino ricorda la locale flora montana, la barca
richiama per assonanza il nome. Barga fu dichiarata «cittt» con
Regio Decreto in data 30 gennaío 1932."
