The symbols of Slavonski Šamac are prescribed by Decision Odluka o grbu i zastavi Općine Slavonski Šamac (text), adopted on 21 December 2012 by the Municipality Assembly and to be published in the County official gazette Službeni vjesnik Brodsko-posavske županije.
The symbols were approved by the Ministry of Administration (news report).
The flag is described in Chapter III, Article 4 of the Decision, as follows:
The flag is of a single colour, blue, with a ratio of length to width of 2:1, in accordance with the legal prescriptions. In the centre of the flag, at the crossing point of the diagonals, on both sides, is the municipality coat of arms, outlined in golden yellow.

The coat of arms is described in Chapter II, Article 3 of the Decision, as follows:
In a triangular, heart-shaped shield, on blue, a golden-yellow ferryboat with a rudder.
The original of the coat of arms of the municipality of Slavonski Šamac shall be preserved in the municipality of Slavonski Šamac.
The design pictures a traditional wooden ferry, as were used on the Sava river in the region, presumably symbolizing Šamac as an important river crossing and port.
