Ballias et Cie was a fishing company based in Lorient.
On 16 January 1918, Le Nouvelliste de Lorient reports the return to
Lorient of the trawler Grondin, operated by Ballias & Mahé, bringing back 22 crew members of the Voltaire II, sunk on 11 January 1918 in the Bay of Biscay by a non-identified German submarine.
On 14 June 1931, the newspaper L'Ouest-Éclair mentions the trawler Otarie as operated by Ballias & Cie.

The house flag of Ballias, as shown in the Yearbook of the Central Committee of France Shipowners (1922), is divided white-green by the ascending diagonal, with a red star in canton and the white, italicized letters "B&CIE" in lower fly.
