The ensign for mail vessels, adopted on 21 January 1977, is a national flag with the coat of arms replaced by the blue letters "CM" (for Correo Marítimo, Maritime Mail). The letters are centred on the yellow stripe but quite apart from each other, as if for instance a third letter was missing in between.
The flag is similar to the previous postal ensign (1945-1977), but with more separate letters.
