The ensign for mail vessels, adopted in December 1945, was a national flag with the coat of arms replaced by the blue letters "CM" (for Correo Marítimo, Maritime Mail), centred on the yellow stripe. The height of the letters is 1/4 the flag's height while their width is 1/6 the flag's width; the letters are separated by a distance of 1/6 the flag's height.
