The municipality of Rioseco de Soria (138 inhabitants in 2009, 5,002 ha) is located in Soria Province, 30 km southeast of Soria.

Rioseco de Soria is mostly known for the Roman villa rustica (rural estate) found in Los Quitanares, 600 m south-east of the village. More than 30 paving mosaics have been found on the site, the best preserved showing the "Bust of Abundance", indeed the representation of a crowned woman holding a cornucopia filled with fruits, including grapes, a pine cone, an artichoke and grapevine leaves. Several coins and artefacts were found on the site, whose masterpiece is a white marble statue representing God Saturn. Three columns of gray marble taken from the villa's ruins were reused in 1817 to build a pillory (rollo) on the main square of the village.

Symbols of Rioseco de Soria

The flag and arms (image) of Rioseco de Soria are prescribed by a Decree adopted on 6 June 2008 by the Municipal Council, signed on 24 July 2008 by the Mayor, and published on 2 January 2009 in the official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 1, p. 140 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Quadrangular panel, in proportions 1:1, vertically divided into two equal stripes, blue at hoist and white at fly. In the middle, the municipal coat of arms in full colours.
Coat of arms: Per pale, 1. Argent a pillory azure standing on waves azure and argent, 2. Azure three pans argent per pale surrounded by nine half moons of the same, three in chief, three in base and three sinister. The shield surmounted by a Royal Spanish crown.
