Presentation of La Gallega

The municipality of La Gallega (72 inhabitants in 2009; 1,735 ha; municipal website) is located 70 km of Burgos.
La Gallega, documented since the 10th century, was probably named for a Galician (gallega) dame who settled there. Part of the County of Lara, the village incorporated the neighboring hamlets of Salgüero and Peña Aguda.
