In a dark blue field is a golden (= yellow), sinister facing stag forcene.
Meaning:
The coat of arms is derived from the arms of the local monastery. The village grew around the monastery, which was founded by Emperor Otto II in 983. Before 1805 all power was in the hands of the monastery and the village had neither proper seals or arms. The arms were designed, after Sankt Blasien city rights had been granted in 1897 by Grand Duke Friedrich. To distinguish the arms of the city from the arms of the monastery the stag was displayed sinister facing.
