Shield Azure on top of a mount Vert a paschal lamb Argent, chief chequered of Argent and Azure in three rows and charged with hammer and mallet Sable in saltire.
Meaning:
The Paschal lamb is the attribute of St. John the Baptist. It is reminding on the former rural municipality of St. Johannesrain, the origin of the city, which was founded in 1911. Hammer and mallet are symbolising stone coal mining in the past. The tinctures in chief are those of Bayern. On local seals the chief had been chequered of Argent and Gules until 1960.
