Shield Or semy of grains Sable, a compass rose Vert with a 16-point star facetted of Vert and Sable and the pointer in bend sinister.
Meaning:
The compass rose is a canting element, pointing to the Northwest. The 16 points of the star are representing the 16 former municipalities, existing until 1990. The current municipality was established on 1 November 2001 by a merger of nine residual municipalities of the namesake subcounty (Amt) and the municipality of Holzendorf, which had belonged to the Prenzlau-Land subcounty. The grains are alluding to the rural character of the municipality.
