Pfaffenhausen Coat of Arms

Shield parted per fess of Argent and Azure, charged with a lozenge parted per fess of Sable and Argent.
Meaning:
The town applied for a proper coat of arms in 1835, based on the personal arms of Knight Jakob of Pfaffenhausen, local ruler at the beginning of the 14th century. The municipality made a draft in Bavarian tinctures white and blue and a lozenge coloured arbitrarily. Furthermore the draft was parted per fess, while the seal of the knight from 1335 was parted per pale. The colours of the banner are a repetition of the tinctures of the shield. During the 19th century the tinctures changed a few times, especially the new edition of the roll of arms of Siebmacher (1856) displayed the lozenge in Bavarian tinctures.

The arms were granted on 31 March 1836 by King Ludwig I of Bayern. The banner probably is in use without approval.
