Shield Gules a harrow Argent, in canton a 6-point star Or.
Meaning:
The harrow (German: Egge) appeared already in a local seal from 1747 as a punning element. The municipality was first mentioned in 770 as Aginesheim on occasion of a donation, given to St. Gallen Abbey. The name however is probably derived from Egino, a proper name. The harrow is also stressing the importance of agriculture. The tinctures are those of the County of Hohenberg, to which Egesheim historically belonged. The star is a mere distinguishing mark, but is also interpreted as an attribute of St. Mary, the local patron saint.
