Shield parted per fess; above parted per pale, at dexter Sable a lion rampant Or, crowned, armed and tongued Gules; at sinister lozengy of Argent and Azure; beneath Argent a house issuant Gules, masoned Sable with closed port Argent.
Meaning:
The first local seal from 1359 only displayed a house with chimney, a canting bower (German: Kemenate). All lesser seals between the 16th and the 18th century displayed the same pattern. A greater seal, made around 1430 added the Palatine lion and the Bavarian lozenges as symbols of the Wittelsbach kin and an additonal savage as supporter. The kin ruled the city since 1283. The official painting from 1914 already kept the supporter. In 1937 the arms were reduced to the shield displaying the current pattern.
