Falkenberg Coat of Arms

Shield parted per fess; above Sable a pale Argent charged with the head of a crozier Or; beneath Azure a falcon Or on the central peak of three rocks Argent.
Meaning:
The local castle was acquired by the Cistercian Waldsassen Monastery in the 13th century, which was administrated by the Palatine Counts of Rhine since the Protestant Reformation. The upper half of the arms is reminding on the rule of the monastery. The lower half is canting, displaying a falcon on a mountain (German: Berg). This pattern had also been the family arms of the Lords of Falkenberg until 1252. They owned the namesake castle. The privileges of a market town were confirmed in 1672, when a new seal was made. During the 19th century the crozier was depicted without pale.

The banner has never been approved officially. The arms were granted in 1567 by administrator Palatine Count Reichard.
