Shield parted per fess; above Sable a lion rampant issuant Or, crowned, armed and tongued Gules; beneath lozengy of Argent and Azure, superimposed by a felt boot Sable.
Meaning:
The first seal with prints since 1325 displayed the differentiation of the lion of the Palatine Counts of Rhine above and a below a field with lozenges fretty, probably being red. The Bavarian lozenges are clearly recognisable first on a secret seal from the 15th century. The boot is either referring to the famous Bundschuh arms of Count Eckhart of Scheyern, which became popular during the German peasant´s war, or it is a symbol for a fee, which had to be paid to the local reeve. The boot was added in the 14th century. Johann Siebmacher (1605) first displayed it like a felt boot. The colours of the banner are those of the Palatinate.
