Description of flag:
The flag's ratio is 3:5. It is a white flag with red stripes at top and bottom edges and the coat of arms in the centre.
Description of coat of arms:
In a silver (=white) shield are two black lines forming a capital letter "T". At both ends of the horizontal line are red balls, at both ends of the vertical line are blue ones. The coat of arms was granted by the district
governor in 1971.
Meaning:
The new town was established in 1969, when the four independent municipalities of Sieglar, Troisdorf, Altenrath and Friedrich-Wilhelms-Hütte merged. The "T" is the first letter of the new town's name and the balls are symbolizing the four former municipalities. The "T" is also symbolizing the importance of chemical industries and represents an (unknown) formula.
