Description of flag:
The flags ratio is 3:5. It is a blue over white horizontal bicolour.
The city used a banner of the same colour since April 1400. A flag without coat of arms is the one mentioned in local Hauptsatzung.

It is a blue - white vertical bicolour. The coat of arms is at the top.
The banners with coat of arms are both on sale to the locals, promoted by the city. #2 being the smaller one seems to be the home-and-garden version. #3 can also be seen, born by two functionaries.

Description of coat of arms:
In a celestial blue field is St.Michael, nimbed golden(=yellow), dressed and winged silver(=white), coated red. He holds a sceptre in his right and an imperial globe in his left hand. He is growing from a silver(=white) mountain having three peaks, which is superimposed by a red statant lion armed and tongued blue. The shield is topped by a golden(=yellow) mural crown.
Meaning:
According to source the mountain and St.Michael are symbolizing the close connection between the city and the mountain called Michaelsberg. So does the mural crown. The lion is symbolizing the counts and dukes of Berg, the former rulers.
