Shield Or, at dexter a wheat ear Vert, at sinister the torso of a man, bearded black and dressed Gules wearing a hat of the same with three lappets, in chief parted by a fess wavy Sable.
Meaning:
The town had been seat of a district (Bavarian: Hofmark ) and was ruled by the Barons of Degenberg as a territory under direct imperial rule (German: reichsfrei). Their ancestral seat was located near Schwarzach. Thus a simplified version of their oldest family arms, displaying a pagan´s torso, had been adopted by the town. The ear is referring to the local wheat bear brewery, which had been the only one in Bayern in the past. The black fess wavy is canting, referring to the Schwarze Ache, a local creek.
