Shield parted per pale, at dexter paly-bendy of Argent and Azure, at sinister Or an embattled tower Gules with open port, charged with a bear couchant Sable holding a beaker Vert by his forepaws.
Meaning:
The oldest element of the arms is the beaker, which appeared alone already on local seals in the 15th century. The bear was added between 1568 and 1576 as a punning element. After the town had been acquired by the Wittelsbach kin, seven lozenges, bordered by pales and bends, were added as a differentiation of the arms of the Dukes of Bayern, which displayed 21 lozenges. Since the 16th century all town seals displayed the current pattern. The tinctures are known since 1812.
