Shield Sable; issuant from base a triplemount Vert, charged with a barrulet wavy Argent; issuant from mount a lion rampant Or, armed and tongued Gules, flanked by a bulrush Argent at dexter and a grain ear Argent at sinister.
Meaning:
In 1802 a colony was established in the local upland moor. Name giver had been Elector Karoline. Triplemount and barrulet wavy are referring to the location in the upland moors. The first settlers in the colony came from the Palatinate, which then had been a part of Bayern. Thus the Palatine lion was chosen in a differentiated version. Bulrush and grain are symbolising the cultivation of the moors for agricultural purposes.
